Well, 2010 is off to a great start and I am trying to work on lots of new designs for the year ahead. Our January canvas feature is called Snowpals and inspires you to stitch the chilly days away. Life doesn't  have to be dreary just because the landscape is rather sparse. While winter is still in full force, it is a great time to snuggle into your favorite chair with a cup of tea or cocoa and grab a happy little snowpal to stitch. This delightful pair is stitched in silk, wool, and rayon threads with some iridescent treasure braid for sparkle. Add some needle punch or turkey work for texture and your almost finished.  Stitch guides are available for this one if needed or come up with your own stitches and just have some fun.

Recently, I met someone who touched my heart with stories of her precious daughter. Brooke was 5 yrs old and fought a brave battle with cancer. One story was about how much she loved to dress up and pretend she was a mermaid princess. This inspired me to paint this canvas in loving memory of her courageous battle and her special gift...Loving BIG!!! Although I never met her, I know I will see Brooke someday. Her family ministers to others fighting similar fights and you may read more about Brooke and this B.i.G. Love Cancer Care at www.biglovecancercare.org. Her mom says "We will follow the example of our sweet and loving Mermaid Princess!"
